Small update allows big guess for future changes

First, the official part by Valve:
Last night, a small update was released. The update ships an up to date version of cp_egypt, which adds ammunition and healthpacks to the map.
Additinally Valve made more changes to the loadout menu.

The official changelog:

  • Updated cp_egypt with changes based on player feedback, added additional health/ammo and updated routes
  • Additional character loadout menu changes to support future features


The 2nd part of the changelog is much more interesting. The following lines have been put inside the code. This has already been found by many users in the steam forums or other TF2 sites.

But thats not the end of the story: We continued our search and found more suspicious code bits inside of the "TF-English.txt" file inside TF2s GCF files:

Will the sniper be equipped with a toothbelt? Will the heavy be running around with a football attached to his head ?

We don't know to be honest. Those might only be the first ideas by valve. What's for sure is, that the current headwear is only a placeholder. For example, the Batter's Helmet is listed among them.

Hints like these are everywhere. Eventually, valve will continue to use the level system, which was introduced with the unlockables. But this is just a guess. The possibilities have been put into the game and could easily be utilized and refined by the creators of TF2.

In the future, we will examine the code changes more thoroughly to keep the news-machine going :)
